As an Assistant Accountant, you will be aligned with Nixon Williams who is a specialist provider of accountancy services to contractors, freelancers, consultants and interim professionals. Role & Responsibilities:
As an Assistant Accountant, you will be given on-the-job training and study support which will enable you to be the main point of contact for a portfolio of up to 130 clients. You will provide email and telephone support for your own individual client base and will build a good rapport with your clients by gaining an understanding of their businesses.
Creating and maintaining client files.
Producing a monthly profit and loss breakdown from documents provided to you by the client (Premier service only).
Completing periodic reviews of client’s online files to ensure that information is being recorded and allocated correctly (Vantage service only).
Calculating liabilities such as PAYE and VAT and ensuring RTI requirements are met.
Drafting personal/company tax returns for client approval, providing advice and guidance to clients where necessary to an early draft stage;
Preparation/reconciliation/explanation of annual accounts, closure accounts and Corporation Tax computations to an early draft stage.
Ensuring your clients meet all their filing deadlines, providing reminders to clients where necessary.
Communicating with HMRC and banking providers.
Uses good knowledge of technical and professional standards to carry out specific tasks within the team.
Delivers excellent service to internal and external clients.
Works efficiently and understands how your own role contributes to the success of the business.
Will ideally have a finance-related degree or equivalent commercial experience
Will ideally have an understanding of Accountancy practices and the challenges they can face.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Accuracy and attention to detail.
Good time management and organisation skills.
Competent in the use of Excel, Word, and email.
Ability to build strong working relationships both internally and externally.
Study support towards AAT/ ATT/ ACCA qualifications.
